Reviews don’t have to be static
Many estate and letting agents treat reviews like a final certificate - written once and left forever. But I always find it interesting how many business owners don’t realise that a Google review can be edited and expanded over time.
This means a single review can become an ongoing record of a client’s journey with you - a success story if you will.
Something even more powerful than it was before.
Why updates matter
An updated review shows longevity of service. For example:
- A buyer leaves a review after completion, then later adds how you helped them let the property.
- A landlord leaves feedback after you found their first tenant, then updates it after three years of hassle-free management.
These evolving testimonials prove your service delivers consistent value over time - and that’s gold for building trust locally.
How to encourage updates
Follow up with past clients after another "thank you" and send them a direct review link and be sure to mention the fact that even if they’ve done a review before, they have the opportunity to update it at any time by simply visiting your Google Business Profile again as if to review you for the first time - they'll see their previous review in the box and can edit / update it directly.
Remind them their updated review helps local people see the bigger picture of your service.
Highlight that updates push the review back up in Google’s relevance rankings.
A tool that makes it effortless
Our Post a Review widget isn’t just for new reviews - it works perfectly for sending update requests. One link, zero confusion.
